Homeless people and activists have occupied an arts and cultural building in central Athens to shelter the homeless from the extreme cold weather currently been experienced in Athens..
Οne of the 15 individuals detained on Wednesday during a takeover of Athens municipal culture center will be taken before a prosecutor because of outstanding cases against him .
 
The other 14 were released late Wednesday after files were prepared for the prosecutor.
A standoff ensued between riot police, homeless and activists after the building was occupied on Wednesday.
 
Athens' mayor Yiorgos Kaminis initially filed a law suit against the occupying group, leading to police making arrests, but later withdrew it.
 
At 3pm on Wednesday, forty people broke open a door leading to the canteen of the Athens Municipality's Cultural Centre in Academias Street with the aim of sheltering homeless people from the extreme cold weather.

 The representatives then filed a complaint at the local police station resulting riot police taken up positions outside the Cultural Centre before moving to evacute the building.
