Yesterday, buildings on the Greek island of Santorini (a popular tourist destination) were spray painted with anarchy symbols and revolutionary words. The reality is, the Greek people are sick of being fucked over by the system. They are taking measures into their own hands and fighting back.
It is important to note that because of Santorini's tourist popularity it is incredibly expensive to visit and functions as a hide-out for the ultra-wealthy.
But every struggle has its consequences (there is a reason why we call it a "struggle" after all). Many comrades are being harassed by the Greek police, who accuse them of violence. Even though groups like the Sect of Revolutionaries have only participated in a handful of violent acts recently, the police will use whatever excuse they can come up with to silence dissent and throw comrades in prison. After the shooting of a Greek journalist, which the Sect later claimed responsibility for, the Greek government threatened to shut down Athens Indymedia. And for what? No matter what tactics are used, the State and the ruling class which controls it will always try to shut us up. It is always in the back of their minds that actions will lead to something much bigger, and that will lead to an entire revolt against the system by not just comrades and the working people but almost everyone.
This is history unfolding right before our very eyes. Solidarity with our Greek comrades.
