President Obama had a closed-door meeting yesterday with Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou, but Papandreou decided to go out to the White House driveway and give reporters a read-out anyway.
The Greek leader said he didn't ask Obama to direct aid for his nation's debt crisis, and that the president expressed support for efforts to crack down on market speculation arising from Greece's problems.
"We haven't asked for financial help," Papandreou said. "We have not asked for bailout money."
He added: "We are taking measures to put our own economy on the right track."
